The poster "Mapa de Hitos" (Map of Milestones) was done as a commission for the design studio Hito (which means milestone in English). The brief was to create an artwork related to the name of the studio. The subject was approached from the meaning and root of the word. According to the book "El Origen de las Palabras" (The Origin of Words), a milestone is a landmark on the road, something that is fixed on the ground. Between 1994, 1995 and 1997, the Instituto Geográfico Agustín Codazzi (Geographical Institute Agustín Codazzi) placed 62 milestones around Colombia and then in 2011, made measurements on 43 of the 62 milestones to determine the shift in their coordinates over time. The poster is a map of the milestones placed by the institute. Each x represents a milestone and together they form the map of Colombia.
